The cynical crayon

I'm Cynical, mostly facetious, always bespectacled & hilarious. This where I chronicle the trials and tribulations of life as a stay at home mom.

OK lets not oversell, my friends think that I'm funny; Is that like having your mom say you're pretty?

So I need to run some errands and I head off to my local grocery store.  As I’m walking through the parking lot I see something really special. I mean you don’t see this type of thing everyday. I see this tiny red car taking up not 1 but 2  parking spaces. These were not regular spaces. No these were spaced dedicated to people with disabilities.

The car was perfectly centered over the yellow line that delineates the two spaces. Essentially the car was parked so that you had enough space to comfortably park a smart car on either side of the vehicle. I can only assume the driver had a right to park there. The blue sign wasn’t hanging from the rear-view window.

Still , what in the world is going on here?
Handicapped parking is supposed to be for the people that really need it.
You would think that life as a disabled person already has it’s share of challenges.

So I have to ask the question; Why would one disabled person try to screw over another?

Then I realized that the person in the red car is an ass-hole. Disabled people can be jerks just like the rest of us. Able bodied people don’t have the monopoly on being douche bags.

I guess in my head I’ve always imagined disabled people as good people. You see all these telethons on TV and they are always portrayed as benevolent & empathetic. I don’t know about you but when I think of people with a physical disability my mind always goes straight to Terry Fox or Helen Keller.

Now I know that I shouldn’t stereotype but hey I’m only human. Besides, there are far worst stereotypes than being thought of as kind & caring.

I guess I’ll never know why the red car parked the way they did. My only hope is that Karma really does exist and is applied equally to all of us disabled and able bodied people alike.
